Opening Day at Knoebels Amusement Resort

This weeks featured location is Knoebels Amusement Resort. This family oriented park is free to enter, offers free parking, free shows and free picnic facilities, making it the largest free admission amusement park in America. Attractions range in age from small children to adults. They have world-class roller coasters, thrill rides, water rides, and kiddie rides.

The Knoebel family opened the park in 1926, and since then it has always been family owned and operated. Today the history and heritage of both the Knoebel family and amusement parks can be found throughout the park. Many of the rides come from amusement parks from around the nation, some have even been saved from parks around Pennsylvania that were closed.

This year their nationally recognized Haunted House turns 35. To honor the birthday and to present the “Favorite Darkride Award” to the park for the 7th consecutive year, DAFE (Darkride and Funhouse Enthusiasts) and ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts) held an event on opening day. We were there for the event and spent the day in this wonderful family park. The weather was great and as always we had a wonderful time.
